Achilles

The Achilles Group owns and operates the worldwide network of First Point oil & gas supply chain solutions. It aims to provide integrated web based solutions that build collaborative communities for both Purchasers and Suppliers, and at the same time reduce purchasing costs and shorten procurement cycles. It operates across several industry sectors that include oil & gas, utilities, rail & transportation, construction, public sector and pharmaceuticals.

The company was founded in in 1990, with the operation being established in 1993. Following on from the Norwegian and UK operations, Group offices were established in , and (1997), (1999), (2000), and (2003). The most recent 2004 regional units are Hong Kong, Australia, Denmark, Chile and Germany all of which bring Achilles into a truly global presence. Currently Achilles provide databases in 14 countries and across 6 industry sectors containing over 20,000 Suppliers being made available to over 500 major purchasing organizations with a combined procurement spend of over £50 billion.
